Robins
These robin eggs were found at my mom's work and they just recently hatched!
Now some fun facts about robins/robin eggs:
(First are facts about Robin eggs)
1. Rather than laying their eggs in the early morning like most birds do, they lay their eggs at mid-morning, hours after other birds.
2. Robins normally lay four eggs and then stop. They always one egg a day until they feel it is complete. If you remove one egg each day, some kinds of birds will keep laying for a long time, only stopping when they feel they have enough eggs. Robins normally lay only four eggs.
3. Until a robin has laid a full clutch of eggs, they will keep them cool so they do not begin to develop, this way they all hatch around the same time.
(Now facts about Robins)
1. A Robins' scientific name is Turdus migratorius
2. The American Robin is the symbol of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Connecticut
3. Robins can fly as fast as 32 miles per hour.
Did you learn something? I sure did! I can't wait to learn about other animals!
