This is a Blood Moon Total Lunar Eclipse I saw on Wednesday October 8th 2014! It lasted from about 5:20 to sunrise and I watched it until it disappeared behind the trees. This was the second, and last, blood moon of 2014 the first one taking place in February 2014. A Total Lunar Eclipse takes place when the sun and moon line up in such a way that the earth is in between the two blocking the sun's light from reaching the moon. However a tiny bit of light manages to seep through the edge of Earth's atmosphere to reach the moon during the full Lunar Eclipse creating the amazing sight known as the Blood Moon. Unlike Solar Eclipses Lunar Eclipses are safe to watch under the naked eye. The Western side of the united state literally had front row seats to watch the Blood Moon Total Lunar Eclipse turn the skies red for about an hour on Wednesday. If you missed this Blood Moon Total Lunar Eclipse the next one will be on April 4th 2015. The last of this rare Lunar Phenomenon will take place on September 28th 2015.

Box Turtles
Me and my mom found this male Box Turtle crossing the road and just had to save it! Box Turtles are turtles of the genus Terrapene native to North America occasionally in dry regions but are most likely to be found in moist forested areas. Although they are not aquatic they tend to swim in shallow waters for long periods of time. Box Turtles can live up to 100 years in captivity and up to 50 years in the wild. Female box turtles can reach a maximum length of about eight inches from head to tail. Males are smaller, measuring about seven inches across. Box Turtles often have dark colored shells such as brown with bright colored spots such as orange or yellow. To tell if a Box Turtle is a male or female you can most often look into its eyes. Male Box Turtles typically have red eyes while female Box Turtles have yellow or brown eyes. Box Turtles are omnivores. Many say a Box Turtle will "eat what it can get" so their diet varies. They eat many things such as snails, spiders, earthworms, caterpillars, grasshoppers, fallen fruit, berries, flowers, and grass. One cool fact about a Box Turtle is that their shell has great regenerative powers! A case was reported in which the carapace of a badly burned box turtle underwent complete regeneration! Ok so I think we can all agree that Box Turtles, male or female, are quite adorable and cool!!

A bat In The Bathroom?
I found this cute little bat was found in my bathroom at 3 am last night! I walked into the bathroom to see a black blob on the wall and realized it was a bat! I told my parents and we closed the door. In the morning it was still there and my dad took a picture. Later on it was gone so we assumed it left. We think it might come back now that it knows how to get in but we will not know until it happens. I hope it comes back because bats are AWESOME and ADORABLE!

The Story Of Kapone
This is Kapone. He is a Pitbull mix who didn't always have the best life. We lived next door to him and his previous owners. He lived in the backyard tied to a leash about 2 or 3 feet long since he was a puppy. He often ran out of water and didn't get any back for a while and he didn't get fed fresh food unless he ate the stale food in his bowl. He got inside and outside of the garage from a hole to let him in and out. His yard was filthy. I cleaned it a few times but the space was small so it got dirty quickly. He was always shedding in a weird way. I would try to brush him but within a few swipes of the brush it was full. He was going blind in his left eye because he had entropion. Entropion is a medical condition where the eyelid (usually the bottom one) flips in and the eyelash constantly rubs against the eye. He always had goo in and around his eye and he had to live with it until one day he ran away. His previous owners did not want to pay to get him back so they didn't know where he was. But I had moved months before he ran away. One of my friends who lived close to him told me over a month after he ran away. I told my parents as soon as I could and they went online. They went onto a website for an animal shelter closest to where he lived. Then they found a picture. We matched the picture together and they looked the same. We then went to the shelter to visit him and he remembered us and was happy to see us! We told them his real name was Kapone. Then we found out he was in the shelter for over a month. We told him not to put him to sleep because we would adopt him if nobody else did. We continued to visit him and trying to find an owner for him. Then we talked my grandpa into keeping him. We payed for everything. He even got his eye fixed. He spent one night with us then in the next afternoon we took him to my grandpas house.
Kapone now lives with my grandpa. He is very happy! He has been trained, he can go inside and outside, he has a doghouse outside although he needs to wear a leash because he will run away. He even has another dog friend to keep him up and going! We visit him whenever we are around and he is now leading a better, happier, and healthier life!

Respect Animals
Please DO NOT abuse or neglect any animal no matter what it is! They are like us! They feel like us and we are just animals with a higher intelligence than most! But even though we are different we are all alike! Animals do not enjoy being left out in the cold, or being beaten for no reason, or being ignored everyday without food or water so don't do that!! Please treat animals with respect instead of training them for a dog fight or making them mean and blaming it on them! Please respect animals!
